The data center is a "production factory" that provides services through networks. As the entire world uses cloud computing increasingly frequently, the scale of the data center becomes bigger and bigger, and the network also becomes the foundation for the data center and cloud computing. But the traditional network architecture limits the current development of data centers because the traditional framework tries to cope with surges in applications, servers, storage and network traffic. A large number of devices and applications take up much space, require many power supplies, dissipate much heat, increasing the cost and complexity and hindering the formation of cloud computing networks.

Features
Unified Switching, Integrated Storage and Ethernet
The RG-S6200-48XS developed for next-generation data center and cloud computing can provide the server with FCoE (Fiber Channel over Ethernet) access and Ethernet access services to help users easily integrate heterogeneous LAN and SAN two networks, reduce the number of devices in the network, so this product can not only realize the integration of data center network architecture, but also fully protect users’ existing investments.
What is different from traditional data center switches is that the hardware chips support FCoE features, so as to meet the requirements of next-generation data centers.
Building Non-Blocking Data Center Network, and Powerful Caching Capability
Wire-speed products for next-generation data center and cloud computing are in line with the "north-to-south" development trend of data center traffic, and suitable for next-generation data centers with large flow.
As the first 48-port 10-Gigabit box switch in the industry that features full wire speed, the RG-S6200-48XS supports 40G/100G extended module and 16-port 10G wire-speed extended module and has 32-port 10G module at wire speed, fully meeting the requirement of network environments where 10G servers of large data centers are connected to the upper layer in non-blocking mode.
For the requirement for non-blocking transmission of large-volume data in a data center, the RG-S6200-48XS provides powerful cache capability and supports advanced cache scheduling mechanism to maximize effective use of cache capability of the device.
Data Center Virtualization Features
The RG-S6200-48XS supports VSU, or virtual switching unit, which integrates the entire data center into one network and makes the network simpler. They can replace the core/aggregation switches of the traditional network with VSU, and VSU and the aggregation layer switches can be connected by aggregation links. The VSU virtualizes multiple physical devices to a single logical device, enabling unified operation, so as to reduce network size and improve network reliability. Also it can better address the disruptions during virtual machine migration of data center.
The RG-S6200-48XS supports VEPA (virtual Ethernet port aggregation, IEEE standard), and the standard returns the switching function of virtual machines to network equipment, so that new generation of data center solutions can better adapt to the virtual computing environment. This resolves the problem of low-efficiency Ethernet switches with virtual internal server CPU and inconsistent network policies of the data center.
Carrier-class Reliability
The RG-S6200-48XS supports power supply redundancy, embedded redundant power supply modules and modular fan components. All interface boards, power modules, and fan modules support hot swap without affecting normal equipment running. In addition, the system can detect faults of power supply systems and fans, and report alarms. The RG-S6200-48XS can adjust the fan rotation speed as the temperature changes, thus better running in data centers. The RG-S6200-48XS features reliability at both equipment level and link level and adopts overcurrent, overvoltage, and overheat protection technologies.
In addition to equipment-level reliability, this product supports rich link-level reliability technologies, such as the Rapid Ethernet Ring Protection (RERP) and Rapid Ethernet Uplink Protection (REUP). It also supports Graceful Restart (GR) and Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD). When multi-services and large-volume data are carried in a network, the convergence time of the network is not affected to ensure normal operation of services.
Perfect Management
The RG-S6200-48XS support rich management interfaces, such as Console port, out-of-band network interface, and USB port. Support SNMPv1/v2/v3, general network management platform, and service management software such as BMC. Support CLI command lines, Web management, Telnet, cluster management to make network management more convenient. Support encryption modes such as SSH2.0 and SSL to make network management more secure.
The RG-S6200-48XS support SPAN/RSPAN mirroring and multiple mirroring observation ports to analyze network traffic before taking relevant management and maintenance measures, making invisible network application traffic become clear at a glance. Provide a variety of traffic analysis reports for users to help them optimize the network structure and adjust resource deployment in time.
