The first X-LAB in Malaysia, a joint project by University of Malaya (UM) and Ruijie Networks was opened on 7th December in Wisma R&D of UM.  The opening ceremony was officiated by Gao Wei, the Director, First Secretary, Cultural Office, Embassy of China represented H.E. Chai Xi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia.

UM and Ruijie are working as the networking course training center in Malaysia and UM has developed networking courses based on the X-LAB solution provided by Ruijie.  The X-LAB is a networking lab management system specially designed and developed by Ruijie for universities to carry out networking classes.

During this ceremony, Vice-Chancellor of UM, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Ghauth Jasmon has pointed out that the first X-LAB in Malaysia will support both networking training and network-based research activities.  This project will be valuable for the future internet engineering development in Malaysia.  He expects this X-LAB will be opened and connected to other universities for carrying out collaborated research activities.  On the other hand, Mr. Gao Wei also believes the cooperation between China and Malaysia can be further strengthened by this project.

UM and Ruijie will work together to develop core and future lab technologies by operating this X-LAB.  Through this initiative, UM can offer more networking classes to students, professionals and public.   This cooperation between UM and Ruijie can help to reduce the gap for network engineering in Malaysian market.
