On February 28, 2008, the project of formulation of national standards for P2P management kicks off at Tsinghua University. Tsinghua University, China Electronic Standardization Institute, Research Institute of China Mobile, Beijing Research Institute of China Telecom, PPlive, Ruijie Networks, ZTE Corporation, Institute of Acoustics of Chinese Academy of Science, CERNET, TELESOUND, Beijing Aceway Telecom Technology participate in formulation of the national standard for P2P management. In the meeting, the attendees recognize the significance and urgency of formulating a P2P management standard and present a number of constructive opinions.
In recent years, the P2P technology and applications evolve rapidly, and the P2P services become the highlight and winner of Internet applications, exerting a deep influence on and changing how people use the network. As the services are growing, some severe management problems are unveiled gradually. The P2P traffic has a heavy impact on the broadband resources of Internet. A great deal of illegal and harmful information exists that endangers security of networks and user systems. In order to enable sustainable development of P2P services, there is a need to strengthen management while developing technologies and applications.
With a view to promoting and providing guidance on management of P2P services, the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China approves the proposal submitted by Tsinghua University and China Electronic Standardization Institute to initiate the project of formulation of national standard for P2P management. This project aims to present a top-level architecture design for P2P management, clearly define basic function implementation, organizational structure relationship, management information convention, management protocol and collaboration management model of the P2P service system, network devices and the ISP management system in P2P network management.
As the No. 1 national brand for network device, Ruijie Networks is invited to participate in formulation of a national standard for P2P management. In the opinion of Ruijie Networks, the P2P technology has a bright application prospect, and realizing management, control and collaboration of P2P is the perquisite of maximizing functions of P2P applications. It is know that Ruijie Networks and Tsinghua University have a solid foundation for cooperation in constructing the campus network. Now, this new cooperation between Ruijie and Tsinghua University to formulate a national standard for P2P management will further solidify the standing and value of Ruijie Networks among the national brands.
The reporter learns from the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China that successful formulation of a national standard for P2P management will fill in the gap in P2P network management standardization in China and have great guiding significance to standardization of future P2P services.
