In September, Ruijie Networks announced the launch of the industry’s first tri-band 802.11ax wireless access point RG-AP860-I. The device can increase the average user download speed by 4 times and support 50% more users with high-density Wi-Fi. It is designed with the fastest speed in the industry to deliver the extreme performance of 10G for both wired and wireless network. It also features Software-Defined Internet of Things (SDI) to support the integrated applications of Wi-Fi with various Internet of Things (IoT) technologies such as Bluetooth, RFID, Zigbee, etc. Currently, RG-AP860-I has been tested with more than a dozen users in Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces, driving commercial applications of 802.11ax with its outstanding performance.

802.11ax Offers 4x Increased Speed in High-density Environment
With the growing Wi-Fi applications in our daily life, we have experienced more and more simultaneous transmissions and short messages in the real wireless network. With 802.11ax standard, the average download speed per user can be increased up to 4 times in the high-density deployment and access environments, compared to 802.11ac, which represents a massive improvement and optimization for such high-density Wi-Fi networks.
  • 1024QAM
The 802.11ax standard incorporates 1024QAM, an advanced modulation and coding scheme (MCS) that increases the negotiation rate at the physical layer by 25% compared to 256QAM, the fastest rate in the 802.11ac. The associated network speed of every 80M bandwidth spatial stream has been increased from 433 Mbps to 600 Mbps. The theoretical maximum associated network speed (160M bandwidth; 8 spatial streams) has been increased from 6.9 Gbps to around 9.6 Gbps, closer to 40% increase in the maximum associated network speed.
  • OFDMA
802.11ax has made changes to the subcarrier spacing and effective subcarrier ratio etc. in the 802.11ac, thereby increasing the negotiation rate at the physical layer. Furthermore, unlike MU-MIMO (multi-user, multiple input, multiple output) mechanism, which enables simultaneous transmissions through space division that may downgrade performance as a result of environmental changes, such as user migration, 802.11ax introduced Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) technology to enable simultaneous transmissions with multiple terminals using frequency division, allowing for more stable communications.
  • BSS Color Spatial Multiplexing
The BSS Color spatial multiplexing featured in 802.11ax can quickly identify BSS (basic service sets) to improve efficiency in signal reception and demodulation. At the same time, the CCA threshold can be dynamically adjusted to eliminate transmission congestion caused by weak interference signals. This technology realizes channel multiplexing in a high-density network, significantly reducing the co-channel interference in a real network deployment.

RG-AP860-I Achieves a 50% Increase in High-Density Coverage
  • Tri-band Design Broadens Coverage of Terminals
As a new generation flagship product under Ruijie’s 802.11ax platform, RG-AP860-I leverages tri-radio frequency technologies, with one 2.4G band providing an access speed up to 400 Mbps, and two 5G bands providing an access speed up to 4.8 Gbps. The entire set-up can provide up to 10 Gbps, which is the industry's fastest wireless access speed. The ultra-fast wireless eliminates all network performance bottlenecks.
The 802.11ax standard utilizes OFDMA technology, while supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to create more available data channels. Users using 802.11ax, 802.11ac Wave 2, 802.11ac Wave 1, and even 802.11n terminals, will see significant performance improvements in the multiple radio frequency (RF) environments.
  • Maximizing Performance with Both 10G Wired and Wireless Network
The RG-AP860-I is designed with the fastest speed in the industry to deliver the ultimate 10G performance for both wired and wireless networks. The gains are multiplied, especially after upgrading user terminals to 11ax. The negotiation rate of the entire wireless set-up can reach 10G, and so can the rate of the wired port. The wired and wireless networks have matching speeds, delivering superior wireless access point performance.
  • Software-Defined IoT with Unlimited Scaling
The RG-AP860-I has a built-in Internet of Things (IoT) chip, and allows expansion of IoT modules. With Software-Defined IoT (SDI), it supports scaling on demand and connecting everything. Many access points enable IoT only through IoT interfaces, while Ruijie had built the IoT chip into the access points at very early stage in its last generation of products, to make the IoT and Wi-Fi signals coexist, without any interference. RG-AP860-I uses software to provide a full-featured IoT system, which supports Bluetooth, RFID, Zigbee and other protocols, to meet demands of various applications and play a part in scenarios like smart education, smart home, smart healthcare, smart manufacturing, and so on.

RG-AP860-I Drives Commercial Applications of 802.11ax
Since its official launch, RG-AP860-I has been quickly deployed onsite at more than ten user locations in Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces, winning trusts and praises from customers with its superior performance.
