Campus Networks of Colleges Face New Challenges in the New Era

More and more service terminals are used in classrooms and offices, device access/replacement is complicated, and network expansion is difficult.

Changes in teaching modes in the post-epidemic era place growing demands on the bandwidth and delay for teaching services.

An increasingly large number of smart devices are serving teachers and students. They require not only convenient access but also security and controllability.

With service expansion, multi-network integration, and sharp growth in devices, professional manpower becomes insufficient, and the network management encounters a bottleneck.

They are using Simplified Optical Solution.

  • O&M scenario
Teaching scenario
One all-optical switch in every teaching building is connected to all rooms through optical fibers. One or two simplified multi-rate switches are deployed in a classroom/training room to connect all IP terminals.
Advantages

Fiber-to-room, services can be connected nearby, flexible in expansion.

100G to buildings, and 10G to rooms. Once deployed, 10-year worry-free guarantee. The solution provides bandwidth, L2 broadcast and multicast for multimedia classrooms, smart classrooms, VR/AR classrooms, cloud training rooms, and all other types of classrooms, and thus better supports teaching.

The solution provides quiet switches with 4/8/16/24 ports, and supports 2.5G PoE ports to connect to Wi-Fi 6 devices so as to give full play to Wi-Fi 6 performance. The solution also enables SDN management. Device PnP greatly reduces O&M workload.

Office scenario

① Network structure: One all-optical switch in every teaching building is connected to all rooms through optical fibers.

② Large office: One simplified multi-rate switch is deployed to connect all IP terminals.

③ VIP office: One wall-mounted AP with wired and wireless integration is deployed.

Advantages

With direct fibers to offices, access terminals can be flexibly expanded.

In VIP offices, wall-mounted APs are deployed, with artistic appearance, simple construction, wired and wireless integration, and experience guarantee.

Dormitory scenario

Each dormitory building has 4 to 6 all-optical i-Share hosts deployed in a centralized manner to bear wireless APs in 120 to 300 dormitories. The all-optical i-Share hosts are connected to micro APs in all dormitories through optical fibers, and the micro APs connect to all IP terminals.

Advantages

All-optical i-Share hosts manage all micro APs, with small wireless interference and good experience.

All-optical i-Share hosts are directly connected to micro APs through optical fibers, facilitating expansion.

A micro AP has four wired network ports, and the number of wired network ports can be added as required. Micro APs support Wi-Fi 6 and have high performance.

Micro APs can be connected using single-core optical fibers, saving and reusing cables.

Business department: IoT business activation procedure
  • The business department applies for a static IP address segment from the network center, and submits an application form to describe the terminal information.

  • The network department allocates an IP address to the terminal, and visually configures an access policy.

  • The business department detects an idle port to access the network and approves network access.

Simplified process

Apply for an IP address segment. The business department brings devices online without coordination from the network center. Devices go online upon plugging.

Management department: one-click approval for network access
Perception-free access

No account, password, user operation is required. Automatic identification upon access. Good user experience. The operating expense (OPEX) is reduced by 99%.

Simplified O&M

Approval replaces username and password:The pioneering automatic collection of IP address+MAC information reduces workload by 99%. Simplified and convenient approval method with mobile phone

New project deployment: plug-and-play, rapidly going online
  • Engineers place devices in the rooms.

  • Connect the devices to fibers, and power on the devices to start them up.

  • The devices automatically complete registration and configuration.

Devices can go online just after the above three steps.
Troubleshooting: check links, view devices, and replace products
Troubleshooting: check links, view devices, and replace products
  • Check linkslink and optical attenuation detection

  • View devicesdevice fault and loop detection

  • Replace productsEveryone can be the network administrator

Troubleshooting requires only the above three steps.
