The existing Wi-Fi network suffers from inadequate coverage and weak signals in remote areas, which impacts user experience in specific buildings and outdoor spaces.
With a user base exceeding 20,000, the network requires enhancements to accommodate high-density wireless usage. For instance, poor Wi-Fi performance on the fourth floor of Building A has disrupted classroom activities and self-directed learning, highlighting the need for improved network capacity.
Thailand's regulations mandate the use of overhead cables for outdoor connectivity, posing significant challenges, especially for cable runs exceeding 300 meters. To ensure uninterrupted educational services, it is crucial to streamline installation processes and minimize installation time.
To overcome connectivity challenges and modernise Wi-Fi connectivity, RMUTL implemented the Campus SOE solution, which included significant enhancements to their wireless network infrastructure.
The network core was significantly upgraded, incorporating CWDM technology for transparent distribution, a wireless access controller, a campus core switch, and high-performance Wi-Fi 6 access points. Additionally, future-proof hybrid cable technology (Optical i-Share) was introduced, making the customer's sustainable infrastructure investment three times more efficient compared to traditional setups. This combination ensures robust and reliable connectivity across the campus, offering a greatly improved Wi-Fi experience for users.
The WIS Cloud Service Software solutions provide zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) for both local and cloud operations, enabling efficient management of the university's network infrastructure.
