The Global IPv6 and Next Generation Internet Summit 2010 was held in Beijing on July 4. As a leading network equipment and solution provider in China, Ruijie Networks earned spotlight in the summit. Xiang Xiaosheng, the Product Manager of Ruijie, introduced Ruijie’s application-oriented IPv6 technologies for the experts in the summit.

As the year of IPv6, 2010 have witnessed the popularity of topics such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, and integration of telecommunications networks, cable TV networks and the Internet, which are all related to IPv6 technologies. The major technologies that are changing our life depend on IPv6 technologies to facilitate network integration and intelligence. Ruijie believes that trust, management, and intelligence and integration are essential in the IPv6 era.

Ruijie Networks has joined the commercial test projects in IPv6 trust technologies and advanced in Internet keyword, security and surveillance, and controllable multicast, through cooperation with customers such as China Telecom, China Mobile, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Northeastern University.

With the evolving of the Internet of Things, smart grids, and the integration of telecommunications networks, cable TV networks, and the Internet, terminal devices will be more complicated and the current device management cannot keep up with the development of these new technologies. To address this issue, Ruijie Networks launched RIIL-BMC, its ITIL-based IT system management software. This transition from device-based management to service-based management accommodates the development in IPv6 era.

In 2005, Ruijie Networks launched its RG-S3760 switch, the first one in the industry to support both IPv4 and IPv6. Now, a large variety of switches, wireless products, and software products and all routers of Ruijie Networks support IPv6. The development of network technologies drives the integration and intelligence capabilities of network applications. In 2000, Ruijie Networks began to independently develop its operating system. Now, the operating system of Ruijie Networks can manage its switches, routers, security products, portals, and wireless products and provide IPv6 solution for network integration and intelligence capabilities.

The last decade is a decade of IPv4 and this decade will be the decade of IPv6. As an industry-leading network equipment provider, Ruijie Networks has been devoted to the commercial application of IPv6 technologies. Ruijie Networks cooperated with 76 universities among the 100 universities that involved in China Next Generation Internet (CNGI) project and won the lion’s share in the supply of network equipment and services. The CNGI project was the world’s largest IPv6 network construction project in 2009. Looking into the future, Ruijie Networks will provide more innovative products and technologies to improve contribution of networks to service values.
