The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is a comprehensive study base of high-energy physics, advanced accelerator technology, rays technology and rays application in China. The institute includes Beijing Electron Positron Collider National Laboratory (BEPCNL), State Key Laboratory of Nuclear Detection and Nuclear Electronics, and three CAS key labs. It is equipped with Beijing Electron Positron Collider, BES, Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF), and large-scale scientific research devices in Tibet Yangbajing International Cosmic Ray Observatory and Daya Bay Neutrino Lab.

IHEP decided to construct the wireless network covering the entire campus in October to support more effectively scientific study with better information access. Too many buildings and complicated environment, particularly the unique scientific research environment in which many buildings have radiation proof, are challenges to the deployment staff. The construction of wireless network in this environment is therefore more demanding and the design becomes more complicated. The institute started to scrutinize all wireless equipment vendors from last year. In November last year, Ruijie Networks deployed AC 5708 and ten AP220-E in their actual application environment, and also tailored a wireless network plan. After almost a year’s actual deployment and testing, Ruijie Networks outstood from the crowd with obvious advantages.

On August 11 this year, IHEP held the International Cosmic Ray Conference for the first time in China. Thousands of users using wireless network in a centralized closed environment (60 m long, 25 m wide) indicate mounting challenges for the environment design and deployment. In face of the difficulties, the Computer Center of IHEP selected Ruijie Networks after comprehensive considerations to provide wireless technology support for this conference, which went on smoothly.

With the experiences of good collaboration, the institute has much more confidence in Ruijie Networks and selected Ruijie as the wireless equipment provider for the campus network, and to deploy the nearly 350AP-node campus wireless network. The customer also hopes that Ruijie can continue working them in the core network transformation, the network construction in Daya Bay Campus, and other following network projects.
